What is the purpose of this website?
To enlighten to world to the true nature of the horse which can exhibit high degrees of intelligence, wisdom, kindness, courage, and even a sense of humor.
What are the sources of these stories?
Real people who have had encounters with horses have come here to share these amazing stories. Every effort is made to ensure that the stories are authentic and are not fabricated. People from all around the world are welcomed to send in their stories.
Which stories are chosen for inclusion in the book?
On a broad spectrum, the most memorable stories will be selected and edited to be included in the book. Other stories will be considered for the website.
How do I submit my story?
Simply fill in the Entry Form and submit it. Alternatively, send your stories by email to author@truehorsestories.com . Make sure you include all the information required as listed on the entry form on the website.
What type of stories are eligible?
It is preferable if you have had the encounter yourself, rather than telling a story you have heard from a friend. If your horse is particularly smart, has shown remarkable kindness in a certain occasion, seems to have an unusual sense of humor, etc., your story will be considered for inclusion either on the website or in the book.
What are the author?s credentials?
I have taken extensive writing and literature courses during high school and college. Graduating from university with a Bachelor of Fine Arts has enhanced my creativity, giving me an edge to sharpen my writing skills. As for my equestrian experience, I have been studying horses from books, videos, and life for almost all my life, and my passion for horses runs much deeper than that for writing or anything else. How much of my information will be publicly displayed with my story?
For the website, you will find only that the date and your location are required. Any further information you wish to include, such as your name or email, is entirely optional.
For the book, it is advised that you permit the use of your name in the story - although still not strictly required. You can choose to use a different name if you wish. No further personal information will be required from you.
What if my writing skills are not up to publication standard?
All stories will be thoroughly reviewed and edited, some re-written to meet the standard of the book. You will have the final word to whether you are pleased with the final script.
What if my writing skills are particularly good and I do not wish my story to be re-written?
Make a note in your submission that you prefer your story to be exposed to minimal editing. If your story is selected for the book, you will be required to choose a title for the story and to include your name as the author of the story. This, of course, depends on whether the story is indeed well-written.
How will I be notified if my story is chosen for publication?
You will be contacted by email a few days after your story has been submitted.
Will I be getting some form of reward if my story is included in the book?
Yes. I will be suggesting that every contributor would get a free copy of the book. However, the publisher will have the final decision as to what type of the reward the contributors shall be receiving.
When will the book be finished and published?
This depends on the flow of stories that will be received. For more information on the progress of the book, check The Book .
What happens to the website when the book is published?
The site is up and running for eternity! It will be constantly updated with new stories available for free to the general public.
